About Us

This Crafternoon is brought to you by:

Shannon Gillman Orr is a wife, a mother, and a creative woman who realized typical craft shows on the East Coast were simply not her cup of tea. After years of searching in vain for an event that showcased women who respect the quality of traditional craft done in a modern aesthetic, she started to bring like-minded, amazingly crafty, creative women together in person. Thus the birth of Modern Vintage Crafter-noon.

She is a crafty gal and currently can be found thrifting, quilting, graphic designing, playing with her two kiddos and spending time with her handsome hubster. You can read more about her story, portfolio, and background by visiting her blog Mastering the Art of Being Me.

Rebecca Badten,  HM, has been a great inspiration and hands on help to the fruition of the Modern Vintage Crafter-noon. She has made phone calls, been an incredible sounding board, and an in-the-field motivator. Thanks Ms. B for getting this project off the ground and running!

Melissa Rebelo of 9 Minutes Left on the Meter will be teaching a photography class with tips and tricks for getting great results.

My name is Melissa and I use my camera almost every single day. I take lots of pictures in hopes of freezing a moment in time, as it looks through my 33 year old eyes. I like bright colors, true-to-life images (I usually do very minimal photo processing)and  photographing  nature, people, and all different types of delicious things.

Joanna Martinez of Quilt Relish will be teaching a machine and hand appliqué monogram class, choosing fabrics and selecting colors. If you've ever wanted to give this a simple and stunning technique a try, now is the time! Joanna is an excellent teacher and has a terrific Kiwi accent.

Joanna is a quilt artist and designer specializing in needleturn applique.  She loves modern fabrics, mini-quilts, polka dots, and shopping at thrift stores. She enjoys baking bread, homemade milkshakes, reality TV (while quilting of course) and is not afraid of color. For more about Joanna Martinez, visit her blog Applique Today or at QuiltRelish.com
